Beauty Sleep Routine

Beauty sleep is really important so today I’m going to share a few of my favorite tips for getting a good night’s sleep. I’m drinking a latte as I’m writing this so apparently I need this reminder too. My beauty sleep routine is everything I do after my nightly skin care routine. I really didn’t think much of my beauty sleep routine since all of these habits slowly accumulated overtime. Let’s find out what this 5 step beauty sleep routine is all about.

1. Relaxing Scents:

The first thing I do before getting into bed is spray the deep sleep pillow spray. I do about 3 spritzes starting from my pillow down to my sheets. I have the roll on version which I use before taking off on flights and when I get super stressed out.

2.The Pillows:

No beauty sleep routine is complete without the pillows! The pillows are such an important part. I’ve been using this anti-wrinkle pillow for about a year now and it’s a game changer. I know it sounds crazy but the logic behind it is that the pillow prevents you from putting weight your face. There’s a space for your face so it’s not smushed up against a pillow all night and helps reduce lines and indentations. I’m going to keep using it because better safe than sorry. I also like that it lifts my head up above the rest of the pillows so I’m not smushed between them.

My beauty sleep routine doesn’t stop there. I have a silk pillow case that I also use to prevent wrinkles. I’m not a graceful sleeper by any means so as much as I try to stay on the anti-wrinkle pillow, I usually wake up and it’s on the floor or hidden behind other pillows. The silk pillow case is a perfect backup if your anti-wrinkle pillow runs away throughout the night like mine does. The silk pillow case will totally spoil you though. I absolutely love mine and now it’s hard to sleep on a non-silk one. Apparently my grandmother has been sleeping on silk pillow cases for years so I don’t think it’s a new of a trend as we all think. I have the one from the brand slip and I love it but if you don’t want to spend that much on a pillow case – I found one for a lot less here. I haven’t used this Amazon one so I can’t really speak to the quality but it has great reviews so I feel like it’s a good alternative if you’re not ready to invest.

3. The Eyemask:

I have been sleeping with an eyemask for forever because it forces me to close my eyes and not get distracted. I have this exact one and I like that it’s black because any leftover makeup, spray tan, etc isn’t visible. I also have a separate one for flying that I keep in a bag with my headphones and the deep sleep roll on. If you’re interested in my must have carry on item checklist – I did a post on it here. I also found a silk pillow case and eye mask set that comes in black and pink here. I think this would be a cute wedding registry idea!

4. Sound Machine/ Apps:
I always like sleeping with some sort of white noise sound machine. My favorite Spotify options are Clean White Noise and Pouring Rain (loopable versions) by White Noise for Babies.

If you want to see how well you’re sleeping there’s an app called Sleep Cycle that I used to use all the time. It will wake you up slowly during the time frame that you set based on where you are in your sleep cycle. It works pretty well and this is coming from someone who has to set multpe alarms. I’m realizing that I need to start using this again. I used to put Sleep Cycle on my iPad and place it at the foot of my bed when I was sleeping so it wasn’t too close but would still track my movements.

5. CBD

Ok let’s talk about CBD! I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a while but before I start, I am no medical expert. The information below is sourced from what I found online and you should always consult your doctor before trying something new. This is just my personal experience with CBD but yours might be different. Ok now that we got that out of the way – what is CBD and does it get you high?

The Cannabis plant is made up of  CBD and THC. CBD is a natural compound found in the Cannabis plant and has non – psychoactive properties meaning it does not get you high while THC can. I’ve only used CBD oil and my favorites have been from Happy Not Perfect and Verte Essentials. I usually do a few drops on my tongue and I’m set. I have tried drops in my water before but I wasn’t a fan of that.

I don’t use CBD all the time but when I do it’s because I have:

  • A migraine
  • Anxiety
  • Had too much caffeine that day and can’t chill

So that wraps up my beauty sleep routine. I have been so tired all day so I’m not sure writing about sleep is helping. I hope this helps you get your beauty sleep and I can’t wait to get mine tonight too. Does anyone else have a beauty sleep routine? I’m curious to know what it is!
