self-portrait show notes

I’m sharing my show notes from the self-portrait show including the trends you should be keeping your eye on for the spring. This season I wanted to do a deep dive into the shows at NYFW and talked about upcoming trends I’ve noticed based on my show notes. I’ve always taken notes on my phone either during or after the shows so why not  share them? The self-portrait show was absolutely beautiful and honestly one of my favorites this season. I was able to go backstage with Bumble & Bumble ahead of time and see how they styled the hair. Most of the models had their hair pulled back in al low bun or long braid which I thought worked really well with the look of the collection because it was elegant and classic but still had a level of effortless.

There were a lot of trends that I noticed throughout the show but the main ones were the use of lace, eyelet and pastel colors (pink and blue). I did an IGTV with a bunch of clips from the show so definitely check it out if you want to see what I’m referring to in video form. Another trend I picked up were stockings. So many of the models were in some sort of stocking whether it be knee highs, etc. I’m not sure how mainstream the stockings will get but it was definitely prevalent. A trend that I do think will become very popular is the safari inspired trend. There were a lot of “trench” style pieces, dark tan neutrals, thick belts, etc. It definitely gave me safari feels and is something I saw at other shows as well. I guess we will have to wait until spring to see what catches on but those are the trends I saw from the self-portrait show.
