NYFW Recap

This may just possibly be my favorite collection of NYFW.  Focusing in on four looks to feature in this post was extremely difficult so be expecting another one shortly. But I absolutely love the use of fur  collars and jacket. The elbow length gloves are so lady like and sophisticated. This collection reminds me of the 1920s era and like it walked straight out of the pages of “The Great Gatsby.”

The J. Mendel collection was a fabulous array of gowns that I definitely can see on the red carpet during award season for 2014.  I can kind of see a longer version of the the second dress from the left on Taylor Swift for an award show. I absolutely love the neckline and diagonal cut of the black dress on the left. The same uniqueness was seen in the cobalt blue gown on the far right. I love the third look, the two toned fur is gorgeous especially paired with the cigarette cut black pants and the pop of color cobalt pump.
Rachel Zoe’s collection consists of classic pieces that are able to be used from season to season. I am by no means surprised that my 4 favorite looks from her show are all in black. The use of black is minimalistic chic and the fur adds a glamorous edge. I love the over-sized fur coat with the short black dress with ankle boots in the first look. Ankle booties with shorts, short dresses, etc can be a great  twist in your wardrobe. I find the contrast of the bare leg with the ankle boots to be edgy and add a little flare to an outfit when done right.
