What Fashion Week Means to Me: NYFW February 2018 YouTube

I just got back from New York Fashion Week and I’m super excited to share with you my NYFW February 2018 vlog with a few of my favorite outfits of the week. These looks were shot each day so I hope it feels like you are really coming along with me and sharing in my fashion week experience.

This was my 4th season at New York Fashion Week and I can’t believe it! I think it’s a combination of a few things but fashion week means a lot to me. I’ve been live streaming, reading the reviews on Vogue and going through photos from the shows for years. I was one of those students in college who would always go to class and the only time I wouldn’t go or would leave early was to be able to watch certain shows live and uninterrupted. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to attend the shows in person that I’ve been watching on my laptop for years.

I just looked back at my old tumblr page and I’ve been recapping shows since 2010 which is so crazy! Fashion week was actually one of the main reasons why I began What Would Kiki Wear. Below are a few posts from the archives that are super novice but still fun to share. It’s always good to look back and see how far you’ve come and also remember what inspired you to begin with. I’m going to bring back the collage favorites from runway shows in a new and updated way so stay tuned for that in the near future. I the meantime though, here’s a walk down memory lane:

Another reason I love fashion week is the opportunity to be surrounded by such talented and creative individuals. It’s such a cool and accepting space to be able to express yourself through your personal style and collaborate with others. There are so many different types of talented people during fashion week from the designers to the hair and makeup artists, the street style photographers, PR companies who are working around the clock to make all of this happen and the influencers who literally just stepped off of your Instagram feed and so many others. It’s an environment that makes me feel constantly inspired, motivated and in my element. You honestly can feel it in the energy. I love getting to see all of my New York friends in the industry. It’s basically all of my favorite people in one place.

I love being able to share this experience with you all and I hope you can feel some of the NYFW energy throughout this video. The video includes most of my looks from fashion week except for a day or two of rain/snow (ugh I know) and my evening looks. I’ll be doing individual posts on all of these outfits over the next few days. If you want to see BTS from NYFW, I’ve added most of the content from fashion week to the NYFW highlights on my Instagram. This season I tried to add more real-life content and what a normal day during fashion week looks like to give you a true look at fashion week.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about YouTube, tutorials, etc so be sure to check out my YouTube channel if you haven’t already. I’ve been branding my video content as “Come along with Kiki” since my goal is to feel like you’re right there with me. I’ll be growing this more over the next few weeks and I have some great tutorials and content from last fashion week as well. I hope the inclusion of more video content lets me share more fun experiences and gives you a better look at What Would Kiki Wear. I’m also going to be adding updated content on topics that have really inspired me from the beginning. I’m super excited about this next chapter and can’t wait to share the new things to come!
