Neiman Marcus and Target Collaboration with 24 CFDA Designers

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a designer collaboration like this one.  On December 1st Neiman Marcus and Target will begin selling the Holiday Collection both in stores and online. The collection includes a variety of products ranging from $7.99- $499.99. “We definitely have our differences,” Kathleen Tesija, Target’s executive vice president of merchandising, said of her company and Neiman Marcus. “They’re high end, and we’re mass appeal. But we both love design.” source: nydailynews

I am curious to see how these two very different brands are going to come together. While past Target collaborations such as Jason Wu and Missoni have been a success in the past I wonder how this will impact the sale of the designers items that are not part of the Neiman Marcus/ Target collaboration. For example, would I put the Tory Burch cross body bag on my list if it were at Target for cheaper? Or would I just go with the Target/ Neimans collaboration? I feel as though the success of this collaboration will have to do with the items chosen. If the items chosen are too close to the designers main lines I do think it could be damaging to their individual brands.
